The data residency question
When a Canadian organization uses a US-owned cloud provider, their data is subject to US jurisdiction, regardless of which region they deploy to. The US CLOUD Act allows US law enforcement to compel disclosure of data stored by US companies, even when the data is physically located outside the United States.
For organizations in healthcare, government, legal, and financial services, this creates a compliance risk. Choosing a Canadian region on a US-owned platform does not solve it.
ZCP is incorporated in Canada as a Canadian-controlled private corporation (CCPC). Both YUL and YOW are live today and support direct public IPv4. YUL-1 is the recommended region for all production workloads. YOW-1 is a dev/test region for development, testing, and private cloud demos. The data does not leave Canada, and the company is not subject to foreign jurisdiction compulsion.
Predictable pricing in Canadian dollars
Hyperscaler pricing is opaque by design. Egress fees, cross-AZ transfer charges, and tiered storage pricing make it difficult to predict monthly costs.

ZCP is a small team of engineers operating a focused platform. Support is included on all plans, and the people answering tickets are the same people who built the infrastructure. Response time is measured in hours, not days.
This is not a scale advantage. It is a structural one. We are small enough to be directly accountable to every customer.
Open standards, no lock-in
Every component in the ZCP stack is open-source. VMs run on KVM. Storage speaks S3. Networking uses standard protocols. No proprietary agents, no custom machine images, no platform-specific APIs.
If you decide to leave ZCP, export your VM images, download your object storage data, and move to any provider supporting standard formats. We do not believe in making it hard to leave.
