Managed Frappe and Frappe Press

Frappe Framework, ERPNext and Frappe Press deployed, hosted, updated, backed up and monitored by ZSoftly, on ZCP or in your own environment.

Overview

You chose Frappe Framework or ERPNext, and now someone has to run it. Updates, backups, custom apps and the database all need attention. Your team wants to work in the application, not maintain the servers under it.

ZSoftly runs the platform for you. Managed means we deploy and host your benches and sites. We install and customize applications. We apply scheduled updates after staging tests. We take encrypted backups and test restores. We monitor, alert, harden and patch the servers. We operate MariaDB and handle support and change requests.

Frappe Technologies and its communities publish Frappe Framework, ERPNext and Frappe Press as open-source projects. ZSoftly does not develop or own Frappe products. We provide implementation and managed services for them.

Deployment Patterns

We recommend a pattern based on how many sites you run and who uses them.

PatternFits whenHow ZSoftly runs it
Single site on one serverOne company runs one Frappe or ERPNext siteOne bench and one site, with a staging copy for testing updates
Multi-site benchYou run several sites that share the same apps and versionsSeveral sites on one bench, updated together on a schedule
Frappe Press control planeYou host many sites and benches, for example for subsidiaries or your own customersFrappe Press manages site creation, app installation, bench updates, backups and custom domains

Operations and Onboarding

The routine work that keeps your Frappe platform current and recoverable.

Backups and restore tests

Encrypted backups go to S3-compatible object storage on a schedule, and we test restores so you know they work.

Scheduled updates with a staging site

We apply updates to a staging site first, check your workflows and custom apps, then update production.

Monitoring and alerting

We watch the servers, sites, background workers and database, and respond when alerts fire.

Security hardening and patching

We harden the servers at build time and apply operating system and application patches on a schedule.

How onboarding works

1
Assessment
We review your current install, or your requirements if you are starting fresh.
2
Build or migrate
We build the new environment, or move your existing sites and custom apps into it.
3
Cutover
We switch traffic to the new environment with a rollback plan ready.
4
Operate
We run the platform under a support agreement. It lists what we handle.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you own or develop Frappe and ERPNext?

No. Frappe Technologies and its communities publish Frappe Framework, ERPNext and Frappe Press as open-source projects. ZSoftly provides implementation and managed services for them. We build and maintain the custom apps we write for you.

Can we leave and take our data?

Yes. Your sites, database backups, files and custom apps belong to you. If you move to another provider or bring operations in-house, we hand over a full backup and the details you need to restore it.

Do you support our custom apps?

Yes. We install and run private custom apps alongside the standard Frappe applications. We test them on the staging site before each update, and we take over their maintenance if you ask.

How do version upgrades work?

We apply upgrades to a staging copy of your site first and check your workflows and custom apps. Once the staging site passes, we schedule the production upgrade with you and keep a backup ready for rollback.

When should we use Frappe Press instead of a plain bench?

A plain bench suits one site or a small set of sites that share the same apps. Frappe Press fits when you host many sites and benches, for example for subsidiaries or your own customers. It manages site creation, app installation, updates and backups from one control plane.

What does "managed" include and what does it not?

Managed covers hosting, updates, backups and restore tests, monitoring, security patching, MariaDB operations, and support and change requests. We scope new features, larger customizations and data migrations as separate project work. Your support agreement sets out the details.
