How pricing works

Monthly pricing is the primary estimate. Hourly figures appear only where an hourly run-rate is meaningful. Annual figures use recurring monthly pricing multiplied by 12. One-time fees remain separate.

Estimates use the same published ZCP pricing catalogue as the pricing tables. The calculator does not use private conversation pricing or a customer-specific quote.

- VM catalogue: compute-only plans (vCPU and RAM) with reserved pricing. Root disk is added per GB on the plan's storage tier.
- Storage catalogue: object, block, snapshot, backup, and archive rates per GB-month.
- Service catalogue: networking, Kubernetes, observability, support, private cloud, professional services, and managed infrastructure.

Final quotes may vary for custom configurations, private cloud, migration, and professional services.

Billing options

## Choose how you want to pay before you provision.

Select Prepaid or Postpaid during signup. Once created, your account remains in that billing mode for its lifetime, so choose the option that fits how you want to manage cloud spend.

### Prepaid

Add account credit before you provision. Usage draws down your available balance, and you need enough credit to create new services. Renewals or active usage may leave a negative balance; your next top-up clears that balance first.

Choose prepaid if you:

- Want to fund cloud use in advance.
- Prefer your available balance to guide new provisioning.
- Need a quarterly or longer billing cycle.

### Postpaid

Use eligible hourly or monthly services first, then pay the invoice. Postpaid requires a credit card saved through Stripe. When usage reaches the initial billing threshold of CA$100 for personal accounts orCA$300 for organization accounts, an invoice is generated and the saved card is charged automatically. A new threshold cycle then begins. The threshold is not account credit or a permanent cap.

Choose postpaid if you:

- Prefer to pay for measured usage after you use it.
- Plan to use hourly or monthly services.

### Compute and storage are priced separately

Review and Deploy lists compute, network, public IP, and the block storage root disk as separate lines. You pick the root disk size when you create the server.

Example: ca2c.m (2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM) costs $24.80/mo. Add a 80 GB root disk on b2.g1 (shared replicated NVMe) at $0.14/GB for $11.20/mo. The total is $36/mo, the same as the old bundled plan.

Network plans are $3/mo. Additional public IPs are $3/mo each. The first public IP is billed at the public IP rate on its own line. Existing servers keep their plan and their price. Nothing changes unless you ask.

Featured plans run in Montreal (YUL) on AMD EPYC with b2.g1 (shared replicated NVMe). Intel plans in YUL use the same tier. Prices are in CAD. Plans cover CPU and memory only. ### Local storage data volumes

Local storage data volumes are available in YUL-1. The available tiers and monthly prices are listed below.

Local volumes remain on one compute host and do not include storage-level replication or automatic host recovery. Use them for cache, scratch data, replicas, or workloads with application-managed recovery. Choose shared replicated storage when the workload needs recovery on another host.

Back up your data or replicate it at the application layer. Backups cost extra and are not part of the local-volume price.

### Why local storage costs less

Local NVMe avoids the network path, storage-node processing, and replica acknowledgements required by replicated shared storage. A 100 GB local volume uses about 100 GB of raw disk, while a three-replica shared volume uses about 300 GB before metadata and operating headroom. Local storage is faster and less expensive, but it does not provide storage-level replication, live migration, or automatic host recovery.

Choose local NVMe for application-replicated databases, caches, scratch space, build workloads, and data that can be rebuilt. Choose shared replicated storage for a single VM holding irreplaceable data or workloads that depend on infrastructure-level recovery.

Root disk sizes
You choose the size at create time. The minimum is the template size, about 10 GB for Linux. You can grow a root disk at any time. It never shrinks. Example: ca2c.m at $24.80/mo plus 80 GB on b2.g1 (shared replicated NVMe) at $0.14/GB ($11.20) is $36/mo, the same as the old bundled plan at $36/mo.

Snapshots
Block storage snapshots are billed at $0.05/GB/mo based on the snapshot size.
